The Maltese Falcon Murders

Chasing Shadows and Secrets in a Hollywood-San Francisco Collision

The Maltese Falcon Murders book by Mark J. McCracken

When a desperate Hollywood studio chief hires Private Eye Sean O'Farrell, the mission is deceptively simple: recover a stolen movie prop before the world premiere. But this isn't any ordinary trinket—it's the Maltese Falcon, a symbol shrouded in legend and desire. What begins as a routine hunt swiftly unravels into a high-stakes scramble, sending O'Farrell from the fog-choked streets of San Francisco to distant shores.

With corpses piling up, mobsters drawing close, and a web of deceit that only grows darker, Sean's fight becomes a battle for survival. No price is too high, no betrayal too shocking, and no line uncrossed in the pursuit of the Falcon. Against a backdrop of greed, lust, and ambition, Sean O'Farrell must outwit a cast of dangerous players if he hopes to escape with his life—and the prize that everyone wants.

Rich in atmosphere and relentless in pace, "The Maltese Falcon Murders" delivers a thrilling blend of intrigue, action, and noir mystery that will keep readers on the edge of their seats.

What Readers are Saying

"Mr McCracken spins an excellent detective tale. Granted, other than a few minor editorial and technical issues, (DRUM magazines, not "barrel") I had a very enjoyable read"

—Charles Potter

"I have read both of books of the series and found them to be very enjoyable. Just like the first one, the second was hard to put down. The characters were well thought out and well delivered.
I am looking forward to the next Sean O'Farrell novel."

—William S. Braid

"I listened to the audiobook version of this title. It was read by the author. I've listened to thousands of audiobooks and I am pretty particular about the quality of the narrator so...good job Mark. The only problem was that the audio quality and the editing of the product was less than stellar which detracted from the listening experience. However, the book was great. I liked that Sean O'Farrell is a good guy in a sometimes gritty profession. There was witty conversation between characters. The plot had interesting twists and the characters were credible. A little salty language and gritty situations. The book is set in the 1930's and I felt the characters and story line were true to the time, and after all this is fiction.
When will we see Sean O'Farrell again?"

—Mac

"I just finished and can not wait for the sequel. I was somewhat reluctant to read this as I have tried other books which try to recreate the hard-boiled private eye and was always disappointed- but this was thoroughly enjoyably and well written. Great plot but the real surprise was the character development. You won’t be disappointed!"
